Cant use Phoenix feather?

Tried to use Phoenix feather in combat but game seems to be in locked state. Cant select anything but characters are still moving so game has not frozen

Great!

Its from Rocketcat Games, everything they make is awesome. Just buy it along with everything else theyve made.

Needs more work

Game has potential, but in its current state it is rather boring and quite frankly ugly.

Fun and Nice Concept

I am enjoying this game. It is fun to view the available cards to pick the best action. Since you can stop at most points, it is good for making progress when you only have a few minutes available. I Recommend this.

Love Rocketcat

Very different from their other titles. Great game, but a little lacking in depth at first release. Also using Phoenix feather freezes the app

Very fun

Im not very good at lane-based strategy games, or card games even, but Im having a lot of fun with this one. I love the art style, and the music is fantastic to boot. Looking forward to getting better and finally beating the game!

Who knew

Great puzzler with a bit of strategy mixed in. Or is it vice versa? At any rate its been a fun game to stumble on and spend time playing. I like the casual nature of it where I can pop in and pop out. The art and sounds are cool too. Art reminds me of another game I cant recall ... but love the flat, stylistic characters. Well done team.

Bug fixed

The following bug seems to be fixed. -- When your enemy employs a vanish move, you can no longer attack him. Sometimes he just doesnt show up again and you cant finish the battle.

So close to perfect

With a little more polish this is absolutely a five star game, and am personally loving it so far. Gorgeous art Strategic gameplay Very replayable and just all around fantastic I did run into an issue where some enemies were stuck in the same position for a few turns, when in reality they had already attacked and gone back to a regular stance Also, after i used one of the potions, there were permanently green numbers above my heroes (would like to know what those were for in the first place) In the temple, the captive dodo is the same color as the carpet, which makes it seem like just some floating limbs For the better part of the temple, no numbers showed up when anyone was attacked When you play a card that allows you to discard, or when a character is stunned, you arent able to read the effects of the card, which is a little annoying Lastly, a tutorial would be lovely(: I think you just need to let the player know exactly whats going on in every move, like i have no idea what some of the enemy effects are- other than that, i truly love this game and would love to see more cards added. Turn based RPGs are my favorite and i hope you do make more!

Good ideas, but one breaking bug

The idea of a shared deck for all characters is interesting and the interrupt and block skills keep you thinking. However, once the Assassin character appeared as an opponent, about a third of combats ended with no opponents in the battle, but a full health bar in one of the enemy lanes. Had to force terminate the game and hope to conclude combat next time without the bug.

Rip off

Updated 11/1: gave this game a 3rd try and its still awful. Uninstalled. Updated 10/31: company update the game to reset poor reviews. Still laggy as before, still a rip off. Dont buy Original review: Laggiest game on my phone at the moment (iPhone 5S latest updates). Game feels like a beta but the graphics look like a 5yr old arts and craft. There is zero tutorial and zero help. The buttons are not intuitive and the effects are so lagged that you cannot even guess what the buttons do. Waste of $3, I will be emailing apple why they allow garbage beta apps to be published.

Hard to understand what is going on.

Its not a terrible app. It is just hard to get a good strategy down because it is hard to figure out what is happening.

Disappointed

Rocketcat has made some of my favorite games. Sadly I feel FCQ lacks the polish and smart gameplay of their other efforts. It is very buggy (game just froze and lost progress after an hour of play) and things that should be clear to a player are not: when enemy attacks, exactly what a card does, etc. I like the art but the way enemies and your characters are stacked up in a line makes it hard to discern each figure and, worse, which character is highlighted. The map is ugly and adds nothing, and text size varies to fill the text box which is also ugly and just badly designed. Animations are not smooth and timing is off. Overall this game lacks the polish I expect from Rocketcat. The current gameplay is kinda fun but it feels random and a lot of the mechanics feel mysterious too. Plus the play sessions feel too long for a game that makes you start from scratch when you die. Makes replaying a drag. All that said I look forward to more games from this developer.

Please Update

I am very much enjoying this game, though it does have some bugs and polish issues. I would recommend it despite these problems and greatly hope some of these issues can be resolved. Thanks, looking forward to the update.

Shallow and disappointing

As far as I can tell there is no way to level in this game. You get a predetermined set of resources and then try to go as deep as possible in a randomly generated dungeon. But what kind of card game doesnt let you collect new cards? The cards that you start with are all that youll ever get and and the deck just isnt big enough to be interesting. As it is gameplay seems shallow and I am kind of regretting buying this now.

Ambitious but unsuccessful

5 Card has a unique take on the dungeon crawler genre, but not much else. With each enemy encounter relying solely on different character animations to stay diverse, the game becomes tiring. But the deal breaker is the complete lack of sense of victory. Regardless of how difficult the enemies, I never left a challenge feeling challenged.. Or successful. With little knowledge on how the game actually plays, and the confusion of the term "cards" lacking deck building strategy, all along with the small choice of characters, 5 Card Quest simply doesnt satisfy.

Half baked

It seems like the developer started art and coding before the core game design and mechanics were fully proofed. The game is confusing to play because the design is confused. The various components and systems dont add up, synergistically. The move set (character deck) is so limited and the battlefield state so vague and inconsequential, theres no possibility of interesting tactics or strategy. Maybe they should have played some good games in this genre before deciding to make one.

Good with lots of potential

The game is difficult with great gameplay, but better wording and clarity with regards to mechanics and timing would be a big improvement.

It was so close!

This game is so close to being amazing. Lovely art style, fitting music and charming character design. But, this game is riddled with poor game design and bugs. The combat is very confusing to try and get used to, as there is no tutorial. Skills feel inconsistent and confusing, such as the Priest spell that blocks all incoming damage for that turn. The game does not tell you, however, that it only applies to the Priest. Theres also a few visual glitches, where dead enemies will stay on the screen, or enemies that were interrupted will stay still until they die. Also, theres a lot of cards and options that are blatantly better than others. Mages and Guards feel like mandatory additions to your party, as the Guard is the only class that can effectively keep everyone alive, and the Mage has insane damage and utility. My thoughts on how to improve the game, other than fixing obvious bugs, would be to add more interrupts to the other classes. Rogues have a cool concept on paper, but feel lacking in damage. Archers are fairly well done but are outshined by Mages in damage and Guards in protection. Priests need to be able to protect others, maybe even buff allies or give minor healing. These really hold the game back from being great and makes it very hard to recommend in its current state. Hopefully well get a few updates to fix the bugs and balance classes. Until then, keep your eye on this one, it has potential!

Another awesome game from Rocketcat.

Awesome atmosphere, gameplay, art, and strategy.
